BIO

I live in the Ella Valley, I’m a writer and literary translator, both of which go hand in hand, along with reading. Translating poetry and prose deepens my own writing, allows me to hold words up to the light and turn them around slowly, until they shine.

I’ve translated four published books, one of which was a finalist in the National Jewish Book Award. My own writing can be found in The Los Angeles Review of Books Blog, where I have a column, and in numerous other journals, such as Mantis, Poet Lore, Consequence and Narratively

I teach literary translation at The Helicon School of Poetry and also run a poetry workshop. For examples of my work, or purchase of books, please see Publications.
